About This Tour

Guests are welcomed by 19:00 (recommended, flexible arrival time) on the banks of the Tara River. Upon arrival, you will be greeted with a welcome drink and shown to your accommodation. We serve dinner in a traditional setting where you can taste local flavors and relax after your travels. This is your first real chance to disconnect. There is no city noise and no rush here. You only have the sound of the nearby river and the silence of the woods to keep you company.

Your second day starts with a fresh breakfast before we head to the river. Set within the stunning surroundings of Durmitor National Park, we provide all the professional equipment you need, and our licensed guides will give you a full safety briefing. Once you are ready, we begin the first stage of our descent into the deep canyon. This part of the Tara Canyon is known for its incredible scenery. The water is crystal clear, and you are surrounded by dense, ancient forests. The river moves in a balanced way here. You will experience both calm stretches and dynamic sections that keep things interesting. We stop at hidden waterfalls and natural springs tucked away along the banks. There is plenty of time for you to go for a swim or take photos. By late afternoon, we reach our camp at Brštanovica.

After lunch, you have free time to rest, take a walk, enjoy light recreation, or swim in the Tara River – often called the “Tear of Europe” for its exceptional clarity and beauty. Dinner is served in the evening, featuring local regional specialties. After dinner, you can reflect on the rafting experience by the riverbank or, if you prefer, gather around a fire and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere under the night sky.

After breakfast at the camp, we start the most exciting part of the entire trip from Brštanovica to Šćepan Polje. This section of the river shows you the true character of the Tara. The rapids become stronger and the passages get narrower. You will navigate through white water that gets your heart pumping. The canyon walls here rise dramatically above the river, creating a truly impressive natural setting. As we move through the gorge, we pass hidden beaches and rock formations shaped by the Tara River itself over time. We still make time for breaks so you can soak in the views.

The rafting journey ends back at Šćepan Polje. This is a special spot where the Tara meets the Piva River to form the Drina. Once we are back at the camp, we provide a big meal before you head home. You will leave with a sense of peace that only a deep canyon journey can provide.

What should I wear?

Wear clothing you don't mind getting wet — swimwear or sports shorts work well. We provide wetsuits, helmets, and buoyancy aids. Bring a dry change of clothes for after the tour and water shoes or old trainers that can get wet.

Is the tour suitable for children?

Yes — minimum age is 12. Children aged 12–16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian in the raft. The tour is suitable for children in normal fitness with no prior experience.
